Free Troubleshooting and Repair Advice from THE Appliance Clinic

How old is my appliance?

Homeowners are often curious of the age of their home appliances. We have provided this service to try to help them to date their major appliances (fridge, stove, dishwasher, washer, dryer, etc.) accurately from the code usually contained within their serial number.

Unfortunately only modern appliances made after the 1970's or 1980's are possible to date this way (and sometimes not even then). This service will NOT date antique models nor even those built in the 1950's or 1960's. Those will need manual intervention of a product knowledgeable specialist to date them ...if possible at all.

You can use the form below to date your appliances. Just enter all the necessary data and press the button. Be sure to enter all the information as found directly on the appliance's model and serial number tag.

All parts of the model and serial number are important. Please include any prefix or suffix letters or numbers, including any which might look to just represent its color.

Our programmers are constantly monitoring this service to increase its accuracy. In order for us to do this we need accurate model and serial number combinations along with appropriate brand name, to research for possible errors.

Please Note! Please enter complete model number, serial number and brand name for each appliance being researched.

Failure to do so may result in discontinued access to this service in the future.

Note! Note: Model and serial numbers may (and usually do) contain both letters and numbers. It is important that letters be entered as letters and of course numbers as numbers. For example the letter "S" (if present) should not be confused with the number "5" or vise versa. The number 2 and letter "Z" might also be mistaken for each other.
