Magic Chef Microwave door handle installation

Karen -- Saturday, 22 June 2002, at 11:57 a.m.

Have an over-the-stove microwave oven made by Magic Chef. The handle broke off at the screws. Have the new handle but not sure how to remove the door (the handle screws in from inside the door). Are there screws holding the door in place or does it snap out? If so, how would I attempt to unsnap it out of place without marring the surface? Any feedback would certainly be appreciated! Thank you!

I don't know which model you have or how it was designed but the page linked below about a GE OTR microwave may give you an idea how to access your model's door handle.

It's Magic Chef (Maytag) VM11EB-8P. The link you provided looks very helpful. I'm going to attempt that. Thank you so much!

It's probably very similar if not the same. There are only two or three manufacturers of those units, all the other manufacturers just put their name on those products.

Dan, You're a peach. Just had to tell you that I followed the instructions and picture, used a putty knife to release the snap-on frame and voila.... gained access to the handle screws. Never broke a clip as it is a hard yet flexible plastic frame and it snapped right back into place. Thank you so much for making this repair a simple one !!

Glad it all worked out for you. Thanks for posting the follow up.
