Be Observant. Before placing a service call, make note of when the problem occurs. Note if, for example, the washer is noisy on wash or spin and mention if the appliance has been relocated recently. Have the person most familiar with the problem place the service call.

Myths About Appliances:Disposals

Myth - If your food waste disposal fails to function, you should call a plumber.
Truth - In most cases, no. While plumbers usually install disposals, if a fault occurs inside the unit itself, most plumbers are not equipped to service the unit. They will often just take the whole unit to an appliance repair shop or advise you to purchase a replacement unit. However, if you feel the problem lies in the plumbing connecting it to your pipes, a plumber is usually the one to call.
