Longer Drying Time In Basement

Since I have moved my Whirlpool dryer into a basement, it takes longer to dry. Why is that?

Hi,

Longer/kinked/restricted vent is possible in the new location....if an electric dryer....try a load with the vent disconnected from the dryer and the dryer pulled out a foot or more from the wall to see if drying time is better/worse/same/etc....

is it gas or elec. ??? the igniter is very fragile, its possible you have broken it. and now theres no heat. the vent is most likly the problem,

It is electric. The hose is not kinked but I will try pulling the dryer from the wall a little more to see if that works.
I heard once that the length of exhaust hose causes longer drying time. Although, if that is the case, I don't know what I will do to correct it. Thank you for your advise Jeff.
