There were several different systems used for the Heat Minder system on General Motors Frigidaire ranges. On some models the actual sensor is a separate component and much more likely to be the cause of any problems.

If it is indeed a switch problem, finding a replacement will require knowing exactly which switch was in your model in the first place. In some cases it was possible to install a normal switch (like used on the other burners) and do away with the Heat Minder feature altogether.

Then you'll either have to get the exact model number off the stove or if it is the switch, the part number printed on it and check with a Frigidaire parts supplier to see if the needed part is still available.

What I mentioned is only a possibility. It is not possible on all models but depends on how each was designed. It usually also usually requires replacing of the knob and/or indicator dial if they're still available.

Re: 1960's Frigidaire Range

I have a 1961 Frigidaire range and also need help with the heatminder. And want to replace a burner. Any ideas where I can find replacement parts? I have the model number of the range, but no part numbers. Any help appreciated. And, Shiela, don't you just love that stove?? Mine has two ovens and is 40". Can't believe they don't make them any more!

They are available at the following links. The original ones may be either 2 or 3 wire configuration depending on your model.

GM Frigidaire 2 wire small element
GM Frigidaire 2 wire large element
GM Frigidaire 3 wire small element
GM Frigidaire 3 wire large element

GM Frigidaire 2 wire small "speed heat" element

That company should also be able to get any other parts that are still available for your range, although their on-line catalog may not have a reference for it by model number in which case you may have to contact them directly.
