KitchenAid Gas Dryer KGYE660W

Mike -- Sunday, 9 September 2001, at 11:36 p.m.

I have a KitchenAid Gas Dryer Model KGYE660W about 7 years old. When the cycle control selector is set to the desired cycle and then the start button is pushed the dryer does not turn on. However if I then turn the cycle control selector (just a hair) and hold it, the dryer turns on. When I let go of the cycle control selector the dryer buzzes (as if done) and turns off. Any clues??

Hi,

Sounds like a possible loose/burnt contact(s) in the timer... if wiggling or holding the timer knob off to one side helps... the timer would be suspect.

Hey Jeff, Thanks for the input. To the best of my ability using a volt-ohm meter I checked for continuity as I turned the cycle control selector. The volt-ohm meter would beep at certain points (not many) and would not beep at the others points. Would this test confirm a bad cycle control selector?

FYI: This is a great site and forum!!! I'll be back..

Howdy,

I'd go a step further...check the wiring diagram for the common "in" contact and the motor "out" contact in the timer and join those 2 wires together as a test...try the dryer and see what happens.
