re-coating dryer drum

Bruce Benton -- Sunday, 19 August 2001, at 5:37 p.m.

I have a Kenmore dryer I bought 17 years ago. It's still going strong although yesterday the heating element finally burned out (a replacement is on order).
With the whole dryer disassembled, I'd like to re-coat the inside of the drum if possible and was wondering if there is any product (like a spray paint or something) that will do this. The coating is very worn and sometimes clothes get stained from contact with the metal. A replacement drum costs $150, so I want to avoid that. Thanks in advance for any help.

There is one paint that I've come across that is recommended for dryer drums by Whirlpool (see link below).

I don't know what special features a general paint would have to have to work in that application but being able to withstand the heat and moisture besides not rubbing off on the clothing, would likely be needed.

Thanks! I just placed an order. Exactly what I'm looking for!

Glad to hear it. Anything to help keep our land fills from filling up prematurely when just a little elbow grease will do.

For others that might come across this message, the same paint would likely work on many Frigidaire, GE and Maytag dryers as well.

JFYI
