Modern Maid oven

Tom B. -- Friday, 22 December 2000, at 8:49 p.m.

I have an electric double wall oven Modern Maid, FDO180-2D. Not a big problem but the light in the uper oven is out. The manual gives directions on rplacing the bulb in the lower oven but is silent on the upper. Looking at the upper oven, replacment is not obvious. It appears you have to remove the control panel. Is this a job I can do?

That is an older model which I've never worked on. On many models of wall ovens, the control panel does not "come off", often the oven must be removed in order to work in the area behind it. By the looks of the parts list (linked below), that does appear to be where the upper oven's light is located. :(

Thanks, this is a great site and I am glad to have found it, but I guess I'll wait until I have another problem before I tackle this.

I don't blame you, it's not usually the kind of job you want to start on Christmas eve anyway. Wait till the summer when you can use the BBQ while you're working on it. >8~} BTW. The oven may not need to be *totally* removed from the wall, just slid out a little bit.

Modern Maid in now owned by Amana. If you don't want to attempt it yourself, one of their service depots (see the link below) might be the best choice to call?

Have a Happy Holiday!
