central air not blowing

Steve -- Monday, 8 July 2002, at 12:12 a.m.

I have recently installed a new compressor unit (two yrs) and seems to be fine - compressor and fan are running, inside the house I can hear the heater unit fan but putting my hand to one of the vents I feel faint (cold enough) blowing and the house is heating up - no velocity in the central air to keep up with the heat.

I assume you mean condenser unit (the whole part outside). The compressor is just one component inside of that.

It could be that the evaporator (cooling) coil inside the furnace has frosted oven and is now hampering air flow through it or may be as simple as you furnace filter is plugged and needs changing. It could also be that the motor is not running at full speed and needs to be looked at.

Glad to hear it. Make sure you replace the furnace filter at the same time and several times a year to maintain efficiency and proper air flow.
