Window AC not dripping

CG -- Tuesday, 2 July 2002, at 9:16 a.m.

I have a window a/c unit and although it seems to cool ok, probably not as powerful as it should. I've noticed it no longer drips and water like it did last year. Why and is it necessary?

Maybe it is not as humid this year?

Many window/wall air conditioners sling the recovered moisture onto the condenser coil to aid in heat removal. Maybe it is producing just enough moisture to be evaporated that way?

It could possibly be that the air conditioner needs a professional cleaning and as a result it is not working as well as it should.
