Caloric self-cleaning oven

lynn b -- Tuesday, 18 February 2003, at 9:23 a.m.

I have a 15 year old Caloric self-cleaning oven. Recently, I can't get the self-cleaning cycle to start although the oven works fine. It is the old style analog where you set the start and stop times, set both oven controls to "clean" and lock the door. The light indicating the oven is on, comes on but it doesn't heat up. Anyone have any ideas?

There are often safety switches on the lock assembly that need to actually open or close once the door locks. Maybe they're defective? It may also be possible that the control or selector switch is not operating properly when in the clean mode but do operate properly otherwise.
