: This unit is about 15 years old (came with the
: house ) I want to rejuvenate the look but
: I'm frustrated because I'm unable to obtain
: model or serial numbers, in order to get
: estimates/availability. There is evidence of
: such numbers, however, they are either
: illegible due to heat over time, or not
: valid.
: Does anyone out there know if I can modernize
: the cooktop with solid black top burners/grill?
I have seen very few Kelvinator "convertible" range models on the market over the years and would suspect that whole replacement element modules are likely not available.
: Since I have neither model nor serial
: number, are there any other options?
If the model number tag is illegible, try taking it off and bringing it to a locale appliance parts supplier. I have been able to determine writing from them even when a customer couldn't.
Other than that, all you could do would be to try contacting Frigidaire (they oven and make Kelvinator appliances) and see if they can guess at a model number or for replacement cooking modules that might be suitable. But as I said, I think it doubtful anything new would still be available besides perhaps parts to repair any existing modules you have.
