Monarch Electric range coil element

john -- Friday, 3 January 2003, at 12:35 p.m.

Could anyone help me out with this range. I'm guess it's an early 50's model (someone segusted an 130m). I have no idea. The bottom element went out in the oven and I have fixed it for now by streching the coil out. I can't find any info on the web for the Monarch Electric range or pictures of it. I have been using it for 6yrs now ever since I tore it down and cleaned it up. It came from a farm house that was built in the 40's. That's about all I know except it the clock and everything works great on it. Any help would be great, thanks.

By doing that, the element is now hotter than it was designed to be putting strain on other parts of the range and possible creating a fire hazard! Depending on how much you removed of the original element, it should really be replaced with a proper wattage element coil.

Replacement open coil (spring-like) oven element coils for older ranges are sometimes available at the site linked at the bottom of the page. See if there are any currently listed which you can use.

I have heard that brand mentioned once or twice previously but don't know much about them. If you have a specific question (except about the manufacturer, which I don't know anything about) I'll try to answer it.

Maybe you can be the first?

Thanks! They had something very close which I was able to use. Now good ol' Betsy is good for another 60 years (or more)!
