Hardwick Oven Won't Work

steve -- Friday, 20 December 2002, at 6:09 p.m.

We have an 8-10 year old (Gas and Electronic) hardwick range/oven that doesn't let the oven/broiler work. When we set it to self clean the ignitors and burners seem to work fine on top and bottom. When we set it to bake nothing happens the same when we set it to broil. The timer clock works ok, what could it be? thanks, Steve

If the bake and broil oven burners work during self clean but not when set to just bake or broil, the relays that control those functions are likely bad in which case the whole electronic control or relay board (if a separate component on your model) may need to be replaced. Individual part for those boards are not usually available separately.

Posting the exact model and serial number off your range may help to determine if it is an all in one control or whether it has a separate replay board. You can find tips for locating the model number on your appliances in the Appliance411 'Repair Parts' section.

the model # is CPG9841-A689-Q the serial# is 19C109243190

The tempature sensor in the oven is giving a false tempature. We replaced the tempature sensor and it still giving a false reading. We decided to put the sensor in a cup of ice and it lowers the tempature of the sensor enough to get them both to work. what could it be? (oven control panel)

All the sensor in the oven does is change resistance depending on the temperature it is at. It is the electronic control which takes that information and translates it into a "temperature reading".

Not the control panel but the electronic control itself (which is inside the control panel). I'm afraid I can't think of anything else which could account for the discrepancy considering the oven sensor was just replaced. Sorry.
