Re: GE XL44 GAS RANGE OVERHEATING

Lee -- Thursday, 19 December 2002, at 8:57 p.m.

I have a GE XL44 gas oven, Model Number JGBC15GER4WH. Everytime I turn the oven on, the oven burns extremely hot. I cannot control the temperature of the oven. The oven burners are going full blast no matter what temperature I select on the oven control knob.

I am able, however, to turn the oven on and off. And, the burners on the cooktop are working properly.

Thanks in advance.

On your model that uses a hydrolic oven control instead of an electronic control, I can't think of anything besides a defective oven control (see the link below) that could cause that symptom.

Dear Dan O.-- You were right. I replaced the oven control and the oven works fine now. Thanks for saving Christmas.
