G.E. Range Infinite heat switch

Gene McGee -- Wednesday, 20 November 2002, at 5:13 p.m.

I purchased a universal infinite heat switch (GE #WB21X5243) for my Kenmore electric stove, but the connections are not labeled the same. The new switch did not have a schematic or wiring diagram with it. Connections on the old switch designated power source as L1 & L2, heating element as H1 & H2. Can anyone tell me how to hook up the new one or where to find a wiring diagram for it?

And what are they on the new one?

P1, P2, Pilot, 2, & 4.

I have a digital pic with terminals labeled that I can e-mail you if needed...

Does it look like the switch pictured and linked below?

These are the conversion instruction posted elsewhere. I have no personal experience with them so if you try them you do so at your own risk.

Orig switch L1 (or #1) now goes to P2 (Power2).
Orig L2 (or #4) now goes to P1 (Power1).
Orig P (or #2) now goes to Pilot (fed from P2).
Orig H1 (or #3) now goes to 4 (fed from P2).
Orig H2 (or #5) now goes to 2 (fed from P1).

Again, this wiring conversion is untested by myself.
