Maytag Oven not heating properly

My digital maytag oven does not heat up and remain heated even though the temp states it is at the proper temp ie: 400. The temp indicator rises rather rapidly to the 400 temp. yet it is not very warm in the oven itself. I am looking for an oven thermometer to check the actual temps now but would like any suggestions. It seems that everything points to sensor replacment. Any othe

It does sound likely to be a defective oven sensor but there is a slim chance it could be in the electronic control itself. I would think the sensor itself would be the most likely (and least expensive to replace).

Thanks for your suggestion Dan. I did stop by the shop on the way home and picked up a replacement sensor which looks to be the same size as the one you showed in your message. It wasn't hard to install and so far so good! Thanks
