HOTPOINT Wall Oven - '77 - Need Advice

Kris -- Tuesday, 3 September 2002, at 2:45 p.m.

As any homeowner knows, finding a descent sized oven is very hard these days. I have a HotPoint wall oven that is huge and wish to keep it. Works like a champ but needs a few things to bring it back to life.

I am looking for the origional knobs for cook/bake/broil and the temprature knob. Also looking for the gasket/seal that goes around the door (the rubber thing) and the internal light switch thingy. Not the one on the door.

These are all the numbers I have on the oven..

Cat# = 10RL353 (last number was said to be a C,D or B, I don't know if this is true)?

Ser# = TV0035445

Another number that was on the tag, but I don't know what it was for - 311539

This is a hotpoint WALL OVEN - said to be made around '77. If you can offer any information, please email or respond. MUCH APPRECIATED!

It is likely a model # 10RL35B (going by the number you thought it was) which would make it a 1960-61 model rather than around 1977. There are no later model numbers that are close.

The part numbers for that model are as follows:

Sel. switch knob 320218
Therm. knob 320220
Door gasket 309031

I'm not sure which other part you were referring to but if it is the light switch mounted in the front of the oven cavity, it is:

Door light switch 320015

None of which appear to be available. The company linked below may be able to cross reference those numbers to current ones but you'll have to contact them directly as none are listed in their online catalog.

If not, about the only thing that may be available are universal oven door seals which they may also be able to supply. The light switch should be able to be matched up by taking the original to a local appliance parts supplier.

How did you find all that out? I have searched the web numerous times and did not find anything relating to the model, let alone parts! :)

Thank your for doing that though. The oven works fine, its just needs fixing up. Which I hope can be done!

Web sites will likely only list model data that is available on appliance manufacturer's CD-ROMs. Those mostly contain newer (after the mid 70's) product data. I happen to have some old product microfiche. The parts list for your model was dated "revised 2/61" so that model must have been produced prior to that.

Check out the Repair Clinic to see if they can find any substitutes for the items you need. Just don't hold you breath except for possibly getting universal oven door gaskets.
