modern maid # FET100

bill -- Thursday, 29 August 2002, at 4:49 p.m.

I would like to find a modern maid electric cooktop (a newer design & state of the art) that would be interchangeable with the 14 year old (FET 100) 36 inch model with a downdraft system that would not need a different connection (sheetmetal connections etc) for the air expulsion.
Thanx Bill

Modern Maid is now owned by Amana but I very much doubt they still make an exact replacement unit nor would any other make be a drop in replacement for it. Can you not repair the one you have?

Otherwise you're going to certainly have to alter the installation (both mounting and ventilation) for any replacement. Maybe even going to a 36" cooktop and adding a separate downdraft unit like the ones at the link below.

Dan O thanx for your input, My unit IS a 36", there is nothing wrong with it, just wanted to update in keeping with an overall kitchen re-do, the ref & link to the 36" however is helpful & I will persue Thanx again Bill

Yes but it is one integral piece. I suggested trying to find a separate cooktop and a separate downdraft unit if the same or a similar model as you have now is no longer made by Amana.

Well if you're redoing the counters as well, it might be a good time to replace it. If you are just doing cosmetic work, you should probably just keep it.

If any of the knobs or element rings, etc. need sprucing up, the company linked below should be able to get any replacement parts for you that are still available.

Good luck on your remodeling!
