Magic Chef 3882XRA Error Message

Edgar -- Friday, 21 June 2002, at 11:39 a.m.

My majic chef range gives me a beep and error message f-1 constantly. My model # is 3882XRA. What the f-1 means and what can I do to correct it?

F1 on that brand usually indicates a defect in the electronic control or its keypad. It is often possible isolate which one is the actual cause by disconnecting one from the other to see if the error returns. If the error message returns with the keypad disconnected, the problem is most likely in the electronic control itself. If it does not return, the control panel is the most likely cause.

Magic Chef 3882XRA Clock Keypad

On other Magic Chef range/oven models (not yours) where the control and keypad are one integral part and not available separately, F1 can indicate a problem in the electronic control or the oven sensor circuit.

JFYI

I disconnected the control panel from the clock and the error message and beeping stopped. So I assumed the problem was in the control panel and replaced it. It hasn't acted up since. Thanks!
