: Have a 10 year old prestige series oven, the
: broil does not seem to work. replaced 2 gas
: valves, does not seem to be the problem, any
: suggestions. Bake now does not seem to work.
Is it a electronic ignition system (using either a hot service ignitor or spark) or a pilot flame ignition system?
By not work do you mean the gas doesn't flow or the ignitor/spark doesn't work or maybe both?
On a hot surface ignition system, the gas valve will not open to allow gas to flow unless the ignitor is providing the proper resistance for the gas valve to open. Ignitors can glow but still not produce the proper resistance for the valve to open. This is a common failure on that type of oven ignition system.
On a spark ignition system, the gas valve will not open unless the pilot is lit. If the pilot is not lighting, there could be a problem with the spark system or the gas flow to the pilot.
You can read about common problems on several different gas oven ignition systems at this link and see the most popular Caloric gas oven ignitor linked below.
