Magic Chef gas burner design

Magic Chef 30" gas drop-in Mod. #64HA-4TKVW

We have never been satisfied with the flame on the stove. After about a year, I discovered that the installer had the gas regulator set for "LP" and we were running it on natural gas. I changed it and it was much better... a stiffer, hotter flame. The main complaint is that the flame pattern sends all the heat to the outer edges of the pan and NONE toward the middle. You can't even use a very small pan because all the heat goes around it. I looked in your parts dept. and found the replacement "cap" for the burner (hoping it had a different design) but it was the same cap. All the burner holes point outward.

Is there a "air-to-fuel" adjustment in the unit or some other trick I can use or did Magic Chef just design a "really crummy" cook top? Maybe you can find a re-designed cap (if there is such a thing)that will make the unit more efficient. I just can't believe that anyone who owns this model of range can be satisfied with its performance!
Thank you in advance for your reply.

Most gas burners have a venturi that can be adjusted for air flow, however, I doubt adjusting it will change the flame patern.

I've never seen any other type of burner cap available except what came on the range originally. For simmering or using small pans, the link below from the Appliance411 Appliance Links section may illustrate an alternative.

My brand new gas range will boil but will not simmer. Is there a problem and how can it be fixed?
