Jenn Air receptacle ? *LINK*

Douglas P. McNutt -- Saturday, 4 August 2001, at 3:30 p.m.

The parts I need for a Jenn Air C220 seem to show as item 15 in the URL below.

But item 15 doesn't show up in the listing frame. It is the receptacle for the circular heating elements in the "Top Assembly" pull down selection. Item 9 is similar but intended for use with the square broiler heater. The part I need is a two conductor plastic receptacle into which the circular burners plug.

I believe you're looking for the surface element receptacle (as Jeff stated). You can find common Jenn Air range parts illustrated at the link below.

BTW the latest version of that part is white ceramic instead of black plastic. You should also make sure to check the element tips for damage or else the new receptacle will not last very long after it is installed.

Parts ordered and delivered. New infinite switches are fine.
I appreciate the previous replies. But:
I have problems with the receptacle replacement kit 12001676,
Part 7400333, ceramic, simply wont fit into part 74003334, sheet metal clip.
Both came in the same plastic-wrapped kit.
It misses by 1/16 inch and will surely crack the ceramic if forced.
The ceramic part does not look exactly like the picture on the instruction sheet, 16009832.
Two kits delivered. They appear to be identical.

I think you're talking about a service element receptacle. If so, you may be attempting to insert the block into the metal bracket up side down. If memory serves, the wider edge of the angled portion of the ceramic block goes closest to the cooktop, not below?

The instructions are fairly clear on that and there already is another, much older, ceramic receptacle on another burner with the "narrow" - I'd call it the "short" - side up. In any case the block won't fit the bracket in either direction.

Sorry but I've never encountered such a case with the replacement Jenn Air element receptacles (or any other brand for that matter). Maybe the bracket shipped with the kit you received was stamped incorrectly at the factory? In that case, you'd have to ask for a replacement.

The kits supplied by Maytag were in fact incorrectly provisioned. The metal brackets had trapezoidal holes rather than the correct rectangular holes. Replacements are on the way from RepairClinic.Com.

Thanks to all who helped.

Thanks for the followup.

Could you have used the metal brackets from the original element receptacles with the new ceramic blocks or are they a different shape than the original ones?

I tried that and it was a no-go. It would have required hard soldering a filler and then cutting much smaller holes for the ears on the ceramic.

The result might be better though. The originals are stainless while the replacements are cold rolled and plated - looks like zinc.

The very original element receptacles where made by Chromalox and were a totally different style (sorta shaped like a "T"). Later production use the Molex block (like the current replacement) but made of plastic. If yours had that second design, the ceramic blocks might have fit into their bracket. But I guess you weren't that lucky.
